anybody notice that the Senate voted 96-0 for the GAO to audit the Fed's emergency actions? We'll see if that amendment makes it to the final bill. And the GAO is not exactly the watchdog agency I had in mind. But it's a start. bloomberg.com The currency swaps would be subject to a congressional audit under an amendment adopted by the Senate today on financial legislation. The chamber voted 96-0 for the proposal offered by Senator Bernard Sanders, a Vermont independent, to allow the Government Accountability Office to conduct a one-time audit of every Fed emergency action since December 2007.
