Sure the lobbyists did. They have been gaining power steadily for 2 decades. Remember how Clinton's globalization dream blew up in the middle class' face? GM is not making anything reliable and cheap. Their crap is still crap. Once they were bailed out the very next day they announced a $5B investment in China!...with out bailout money.
