FF, the problem i have is that the pope could end the issue right here, right now. all he has to do is say that his employees will fully cooperate with authorities in these cases ASAP. of course, he won't do that. he thinks he benefits from the cover ups, so he supports them. now, not everyone is covering up, but many are. oh, and promoting those who do the biggest cover ups sends the wrong message, imho. yes, lots of people dislike catholics and will paint them in a bad light. they are a lightening rod for attention - good and bad. i'm not focused on that, just that they value kids as much as they should and make every effort to protect them from their own and others.
