"homo is not pejorative"

Nothing is a pejorative unless it is intended or received as one. It has less to do with word than with INTENTION.

Words such as homo and chink and other such slang variants have been studied in many Universities. "Chink" is just a word meaning "fissure" but if used in despite it would surely be pejorative.

So I respect your point but there is a well documented history of "homo" and "chink" as pejoratives (when they have been so intended). People knowledgeable of the society they live in and truly without prejudice against gays would not be likely to use "homo" as shorthand (LOL!)--unless they were doing their PHD in a cloistered lab!
