An article about Japan's fast rail, from one of your threads I think, was partly talking about a farming community that was dying. not because wasn't still farming, but the kids all leaving for college and then jobs in the cities, and no other bizes there, then they built a fast train, with national money but people in the community putting in money.

that's a lot of cities up in wild remote Maine affected by this, and they grow stuff that we eat and use. I know zilch about the economics of freight hauling, but to lose 4-5 million when people could truck it for a profit doesn't make sense. I need to see what can be found on that.
