I agree. But whatever they are hiding at this point is to protect the Church from lawsuits intended to enrich lawyers and bankrupt the Church and not to protect priests/bishops etc..

The guilty are mostly dead, old and retired, or already put in positions where they are no longer a danger. The Church has been cleaning up its act for a very long time. These are mostly old cases.

I agree with anyone that contends that some kind of financial restitution should be made to the victims, but disagree strongly that that is the intention of many of the lawsuits. They bankrupt parishes and dioceses and try to drag in the assets of others than were perfectly clean.
