Not me, I joined the national guard to avoid the war. The guard did not go to Viet Nam in those days.

Then when the guard found out I was vigorously protesting the war they planned to put me in the first guard groups that would go to Vietnam if called, as punishment.

At that point I contacted congressman Baldwin of Berkeley and got out of the guard all together on a bad shoulder.

But I had already decided early on, I would not go to Viet Nam under any circumstancs and would have gone to Canada or jail.

All because I questioned the war, and knew the same right wing nuts that never saw a war they didn't like, were doing their normal Macarthy/John Birch society paranoia bullshit and I was not gong to follow those fools instructions to go kill people who had done nothing to us or even wrong.

Any fool could see the Vietnamese just wanted control of their country and all foreign people out. Just like we or any country would feel if another country was controlling us or invaded us for any reason.

Not too long ago it was also revealed LBJ lied about the Tonkin Gulf event that was the pretext for our formal invasion.

We hippies protested day and night against that war, got LBJ out, pulled Gene Macarthy and RFK onto our side, only to have Humphrey steal the nomination after the assination of RFK.

Which is why we did not vote for Humphrey and Nixon won.
