"CJ, I don't get why you need to excuse the individual for the sins of a society, as if an individual is incapable of determining what is right and what is wrong."

Tenchu, you have to have some basis for determining right from wrong. Take polygamy, for example. It is wrong because our society has determined it to be. There really isn't any moral basis for it to be wrong. We are talking about adults making decisions for themselves and there aren't any victims. For the Mormons, it made sense because the death rate amongst males was so high and women were far safer married than not. Now, they tried to dress it up with pronouncements from God, but...

""I was just following orders." How many times was that phrase used during the Nuremburg trials? "

Apples and pineapples, Tenchu. Those things were crimes and war crimes before WWII. It was reasonable to expect those people to look beyond their orders.
