Would like to connect my laptop (Vista os) so as to surf the net with my tv as the sceen. With a male-male cable, I've connected vga slot at laptop to input vga slot on flat-screen tv.

I get no response.

Assuming cable is okay and connected right, then problem is with computer or tv. You guys might not be able to help me with the settings I have to make to my tv that the tv manufacturer says are necessary to have a computer as the input source, but could you help me eliminate the computer's settings as the problem?

That is, if there's something in "display" or "network connections" or somewhere else that I'm supposed to set, I don't see it. Can I or should I not assume the computer recognizes that its vga output plug is now hooked up, and so the computer automatically sends screen output to the vga cable and to my tv? Or should I, or do I, somehow have to make some settings to direct the computer to send output to the computer's vga output slot?

Thanks for any relevant replies.

Paul S.
