HI will,

Great historical perspective and confirmation.

I do not fault the wealthy for their service,as they have much at stake.

I remember being at George Washington's home place "Mount Vernon".

On display was a marriage certificate of he and Martha.

Further reading indicated Martha was previously married to a wealthy Frenchman. who owned a shipping company. He had died and then George met Martha.

Martha's assets were estimated to have been 16 million way back in the late 1700's.

George had more than a good reason to fight for not being taxed by England.

He was no doubt one of the elite wealthy of the colonies - much unlike others.

George knew his great wealth always had to bow to the aristocracy of the lucky sperm club of Europe's ruling Monarchists - no doubt a scourge in his view.

The wealthy have a reason to pay attention to the fight of democracy.

What we're witnessing now is the fight of the poor to redistribute wealth to themselves.

It marks a reversal of the forces that founded our country.IMMO

Every one wants social saftey networks until they make so much that they don't need them, but must pay for them.<smile>

It is a far more civil arrangement than Aristocracy having it all.

I get concerned when the cost of success is morphed into the burden of sharing, such that preservation of wealth is never overcome by the desire to create more.

That is when we, as a power, will cease to have influence.

Wealth must be created before it can be shared.

To disincentivize wealth creation is to accept mediocrity that will morph into poverty over time.

This is not where I want the USA to go.
