The problem with the commons and collectivism is that governments normally treat the commons as their personal fiefdom to be divvied up with their supporters who vote to grab the last pregnant salmon and pillage the last viable taxpayer.

Governments are specifically representative of the commons - or should be. The closer they stick to that rather than busy-bodying and taking opm by force, the better they are.

Fancy being so easily impressed - somebody thinking that small government is better than a combined USSR/Pol Pot/Maoistic Albanian style with North Korean production techniques or even the lesser version currently in force in NZ.

The BP and Tony Haywood video isn't working too well for me just now due to cyberspace gremlins. Will try again as the first part looked interesting. Thanks for that.
