Yes, telling the truth can be detrimental to one's perceived reputation these days.

Probably always has been that way.

That said, having taken on the mantle of "pastor', I believe it's best to avoid politics in the scope of organized religion. I've come to the conclusion that any man/woman who lets the State be involved in him being licensed to preach is already off on the wrong foot. Add in the non-profit church status thingy and you've got a regular Deep Horizon blowout on your hands, in a spiritual sense that is.

I don't think it shows Obama having a lot of character though....He dumped Wright faster than a drunk getting rid of what he brought home from the bar last.
