CNBC's Rick Santelli and Rep. Paul Kanjorski, D-Pa., got into a small shouting match when Kanjorski announced that Democrats could not reform Fannie and Freddie in their Wall Street packge because it's "too complicated."

Now, when Kanjorski says they'll do it later, bear in mind that this Congress is not likely to pass further substantial legislation this year once the financial services bill is done. They won't even be passing a budget, because they are afraid that the numbers in it will be used against them this November -- and rightly so. Once the Supreme Court nomination is out of the way, the Senate will be lucky to find time to pass enough appropriations bills to keep the government running past October.

Besides, Obama administration officials have been promising movement on Fannie and Freddie reform almost since the inauguration. So far, they have nothing to show for all those promises.
