Verizon and other large carriers doing triple play business, will be shifting budget to Wifi hotspots in public places. Simply because wireless 3/4G speeds are not sufficient. Wifi 802.11n has at least 10x the speed of cellphones. For Symm, its the ethernet back haul equipment in central office for cellphones. Symm has not yet tried to sell docsis3.0 equipment for hotspots(set-top boxes with USB wifi mesh routers) yet. Sprint has been advertising on wifi speeds. So, the cellphone industry is gearing for this dual capability soon. Footnote: Mesh router is wifi channels for 28 computers(or 280 cellphones) networking on each channel. USB bus can have 127 mesh channels per set-top box.
