Here's a conspiracy REALITY for you...
There are thousands, and possibly millions (including passive supporters) of individuals who believe they have every right to spread their religion by force of arms.
This politician for HAMAS explains it very clearly:
youtube.com
One can find endless examples of such public pronouncements regarding the agenda of these Jihadists but there are so many fools who just can't seem to accept them at face value.
Just go to memri.org
Or
jihadwatch.org
Lots of other places where you can hear these folks IN THEIR OWN WORDS, not second hand from the MSM.
Now folks can wallow in self-doubt to their heart's content about what really happened on 9.11, but this Hamas leader has no doubt about the conspiracy he, and his fellow Jihadists, have in store for the West.
And this conspiracy predates 9.11, Desert Storm, Vietnam, WWII, and even the formation of Israel. In fact, the history of the Muslim Brotherhood (Ikhwan) date back to the founding of Saudi Arabia where they were the "stormtroopers" that captured the kingdom for the Saudis and kicked the Hashemites into Jordan. But then the MB became a threat to the Saudis and were disbanded and most exiled. And decades later Egyptian writer, Sayyid Qutb, was able to restore the movement in Egypt (an Islamic center of learning).
But only in recent years, with the advent of the internet and modern communications, have they been able to spread their message to a broader audience. And that message was spread very effectively on 9.11 and we saw on the news the cheering crowds from the "Arab Street" applauding around the Middle East.
The reality is not all Muslims applauded. Many recognize with incredible fear of the militancy that was pervading modern Islamic thought. And certainly the secular rulers of many of these states felt threatened by a surge in religious fanaticism.
What's funny, and definitely ironic, is that on this thread, where "big picture" discussions are regular fodder, no one can see the forest for the trees. REGARDLESS of whether 9.11 was a conspiracy, it doesn't alter the REALITY of the growing trend of Islamic Radicalism and what they have in store for the West, should they get the opportunity to seize control.
The reality is that Islamic Fanaticism can only be reduced by facilitating economic prosperity and political diversity. And that requires conveying information and economic resources.
The internet is a double edged sword because it's now incredibly obvious to many of these people just how deprived their lives have been. And while most people embrace this change, and the exchange of ideas and progressive values, there are many who reject it. They are "ultra-conservatives" to the point that have become militant.
And I'm always amused when liberals find themselves making excuses, if not defending, the aspirations and agenda of religious ultra-conservatives. I remember how they bashed on Bush for wanting to incorporate faith-based charities to help the poor.. No.. can't mix church and state!
But they shield/defend Muslim groups who are plotting the conquest of the world.
You want an economic trend? If we can't bring ourselves to confront obvious evil when we see it, then we're truly lost as a culture. And there's no way our economic system will sustain itself if our moral values have decayed to the extent that we're indifferent to the suffering of others.
