I never considered that, but now that I have been mulling it over in my mind, I think it is a big part of it. Thanks for the insight.
>>>"My job involves constant debate with others in legal matters. It is wearying. I make the same arguments over and over -- each time trying to gain a little more insight, trying to convey what I understand a little more clearly for those opposed. At some point others have to simply accept or reject something as true, right?">>>
Right again.
Barry I know personally of what you speak;
>>>"I know, because for some time I was consumed with being "right" and having others admit it".>>>
I suppose that all of us battle this area in our lives. And praise God with His help we get past it...the need for approval from others. When it comes to planting the seed of truth, I have learned over the yrs. to just plant it and God will do the rest, if it His will. All we are responsible for is getting it out there. Beating someone over the head with it is not the will of God.(Even though we belive that some could really use it)...Smile...
Now in your job or in other fields it may be somewhat necessary to pound the point home, i.e., if a water main is about to break and flood a city then someone better do all he can to prove his point. You get the picture...but it is as you say...after you have done all that you possibly can to avoid a disaster of some sort and still no one has listened....well then your hands are clean....OR are they?... In any case Your point is well taken.
>>>"As much as I can I'm going to quite being combative and live for the Lord">>>
This is a statement from the heart of one that loves the Lord.
But you know Barry what is sometimes viewed as combative by others is actually blessed by God as standing firm in His truth. Now there is a way that this can be done diplomatically and still be considered combative to some....But we shouldn't be concerned about what others say. God is our Judge, and when we are doing the work of God we must do it in truth and love. And being firm and consistent is love....and some view firmness as combative.
Consider Paul, he was not known for his lovey-dovey way of speaking. When a truth had to be known, he made it known with firmness. Consider Our precious Lord who was in fact known for His Gentleness, However, When He was confronted with opposition He handled it head on and not by any means in a sugar coated manner.
In any case my good brother it is right for us to (Especially in this forum) to just state a truth and let chips fall where they may.
Barry I appreciate your posts here very much and always look forward to reading them....you are certainly a breath of fresh air, and our Father I know smiles on your heart and blesses you continually.
How's Joseph been? Joseph,That is a real good name....Tell him we said Hi.
Have a good day Barry, you and your family Shalom...><> BTW ">>>Appreciate your humble spirit and continual appeal to scripture">>>..... I have never considered my self humble enough, but it is one area I do pray about always...thank you my friend for those kind words....As for appeal to scripture...I will not waver, it is life to those who hear it....It's what the world needs more of!...And ALL praise and glory be to God. |
