Bill White, a champion for all things military, who has raised a lot of money for the Fallen Heroes Fund abruptly resigned from all of his posts today.
I heard it on Imus, who speculated it was because he's gay and was forced out.
Does anyone know what really happened to him?

Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum & Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund
Bill White has dedicated his career to honoring and supporting our nation’s military personnel and veterans and their families. He serves as President of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum and the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. Under his leadership, The Intrepid Museum has emerged as a world-class education attraction welcoming over 700,000 visitors each year and featuring exciting exhibits like the British Airways Concorde. As President of the Intrepid he has led its fundraising campaign, to date totaling more than $400 million, for the families of military personnel lost in Afghanistan and Iraq, for the construction of the Center for the Intrepid, the national Armed Forces Physical Rehabilitation Center in San Antonio, Texas and other related military and Intrepid foundations. This 65,000 square-foot “state-of-the-world” center serves military personnel and veterans who have been catastrophically disabled in action. Today he is leading fundraising for construction of the National Intrepid Center of Excellence, a $75 million Traumatic Brain Injury center.
White manages all fundraising, business development and external affairs for both the Intrepid Museum and the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. He is responsible for planning, marketing and executing special fundraising events, which have included benefit dinners honoring world leaders such as Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H. Bush and Ronald Reagan; and Prime Ministers Yitzhak Rabin, Margaret Thatcher and Silvio Berlusconi. White has generated millions of dollars in new government and private support for Intrepid. He is responsible for exploring means of expanding current business activities to further increase revenue, awareness and support. The Intrepid stands now as one of the nation’s foremost organizations dedicated to supporting the men and women of America’s Armed Forces and their families. White spearheaded the $115 million Capital Campaign for the 2006-08 restoration of the Intrepid Museum. To commemorate the Intrepid and its return, White co-authored Intrepid, published in October 2008, which entails the rich history of this historic vessel, both as a Navy aircraft carrier and a world-class museum.
