Re: Flags of our Fathers

I have a copy on my bookshelf and picked it up yesterday after your note. It is time to reread it.

My father was USAAC--8th AF. He flew for an outfit called the Carpetbaggers(801/492 BG). They were assigned to the OSS and flew modified B-24s at night, single plane missions-no fighter escorts, behind enemy lines dropping supplies and saboteurs to the underground organizations in France, Belgium, and Norway. He was shot down over Norway on his 30th mission but survived thanks to the Norwegian underground. It is a long story.

We should always remain proud of those who serve.
