Actually its very likely your ancestors did own slaves at some point. Slavery goes way back. Its not just a black slaves with white American owners thing. Its also very likely, perhaps even almost certain, that you had ancestors that where slaves.

Not that this should cause you to feel guilty. Each person is only responsible for his own conduct, not those of his distant ancestors or even his parents.
