Such a lack of being bothered by the situation isn't implied by "talk of grinding government boot heels in to the throats of individuals and corporations, is rather inappropriate."
If it was one business dealing with another, that's exactly how it would go down. In fact, BP would be in court right now. Why should the gov't treat them with kid gloves? You have an untenable and indefensible position.
"Lied" - Perhaps they did. I don't think its been proven, and personally I place a high burden of evidence before I would accuse someone of lying. OTOH the charge is believable given some of their statements.
They've admitted they misspoke and misled. Do you think they are going admit they blatantly lied? Seriously. Tim, where is your head?

I never said they haven't tried......its just that they have failed nearly every step of the way. In the meantime, countless fishermen are losing their livelihood and the LA coast is getting seriously damaged.

It doesn't.......but can you understand why people are fed up with BP? They screwed up. They made mistakes and cut corners that led to the rig blowup. This is not some minor accident. Its a huge mess. Why are you wanting to go gentle on them?
BP has an incentive to end this ASAP. The longer it goes on the more money it looses and bad PR it gains. The execs of BP also have a personal reason to want to end it, since higher losses for BP lead to less value for their options, and less security for their jobs. Yes they may have "golden parachutes", and they may get repriced options, but still this incident is very bad for the senior and/or more directly responsible execs' careers
I understand but most Americans expect Obama to keep BP's feet to the fire. For the life of me, I can't understand why you don't get the concept. |
