So, CPQ has invested 20 million $ in India to do what? Filed support? hardware development ? or assemblying the boxes ? or development of software ??? My guess is CPQ is interested on software business, and realized that after PCs are widely owned by families, corporations, now people need all kinds of softwares !!! You need gas to let the car run, you need to provide all kinds of DVD programs to let the DVD players look like a DVD. So probably in the next three to five years maybe more than 70% to 80% of US family will have at least one Pcs, with PC price getting lower and lots of family can afford, then we need lot of software programs for all kinds of applications. I think CPQ has such vision and prepares for it now !!! In the next three to five years CPQ will penetrate the home pc market in big time, the size of pc market will be double, even trible on an annual base , every family all over the world will join the pc areana with pc become more affordable and just become part of daily life for everyone as applications continue to increase, visual shoppings, video teleconference, remote medical diagnosis, remote data access, remote education through internet, remote realtime broadcast through internet , .....etc, to have all those applications available to you , you need to have at least one pc at home. In the 20th when car first came to the market wwith the price very high and only affordable to few families, we do not have a successful auto industry. Then the price started to drop to an extend that everyone can afford, it is not untill that time we start to have a successful auto industry and petroleum business. The same thing is now happen to the PC industry and once everyfamily has at least one pc, the software , on line data access business will grow to the size which will be out of your imagniation. So we are now in a transitional period which will offer a very very very large growing opportunity for companies like CPQ, DELL Intel in the next five years. What I worry for CPQ and Intc is if Intc can ship enough CPUs and CPQ can ship enough boxes to meet market's needs!!!This is the onlything I worry!!! From the previous reports, we already see such things happen, and CPQ's market shares is growing almost everywhere, and the PC market is expanding almost everywhere, in Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Africa... Of course CPQ's stock price will appreciate together in the next five years. |
