All that nationalized industry wasn't socialist? Nope. Even the farms were collectively owned by the state ... In the end, oligarchs pretty much owned everything. When the SU collapsed, they incorporated. but it wasn't socialist to those who want to promote socialism without admitting its a proven failure. The only true experiments at socialism were done on the kibbutzim in Israel. Some succeeded; some failed. Whether its imprinted in our DNA or its imbued into us through culture, most people can't handle a socialist economic system.
