Under the circumstances they have behaved quite well. Al Gore believes they should be charged with crimes against humanity but everyone knows from Spindletop on down that oil drilling can be violent and dangerous. If the US is worried about these potential problems they should not award drilling leases in the first place.

The real culprit is perception and the politicos trying to make a whipping boy of poor BP. In the over all scheme of things the well is just a drop in a very big bucket.

Did you know in the old days in east Texas people would have Sunday picnics and for entertainment would see whose well could shout the highest.
