It was quite bad at my agency. Almost no one was ever prosecuted & fewer still even had to reimburse the gov't for the credit card thefts. These people stole from hundreds to tens of thousands of dollars. Many were repeat offenders year after year.

Me - I would get raked over the coals every few weeks over travel charges as little as 5¢ & every time those charges were 100% legitimate per written travel regs.

Talk about being stuck on stupid. My micro-managing RIGA would spend hundreds of dollars [sometimes entire days with our ARIGA & my supervisor involved] over & over fighting me tooth & nail over these tiny yet legit expenses when he had real credit card abusers like the above.

They got off scott free without so much as an inquiry. I would sometimes give in & reimburse the 5¢, etc, just to end the madness.

Go figure.
