I vascilate pro and con about nuclear power. Waste is the big issue in my mind and I don't want it all shipped to Nevada..
NEVADA IS NOT A WASTELAND..
I would go for it as a transitional energy source to be phased out after 20-25 years if all plants stored their waste locally, statewide or even regionally.... I would think with today's high tech materials some pretty "fail safe?" (there's that word again) <g,ng> containers could be built.
Rationing of ALL oil products is the best short term bet imo.. Not JUST higher taxes on gasoline as the wealthy would keep burning it up because they could afford it.. The poor would suffer as usual with higher taxes.. A fair formula could be worked out fairly easy for users.
And Yes, NASCAR, INDY, Gran Prix, Drag Racing, high powered weinie boats, etc. would be the first to go in mind..
Also plastic salad shooters, arse wipers, arm pit scrubbers, in the shell egg beaters and other WORTHLESS plastic land-fill-destined crap..
The kind of stuff sold all over Walmart, K-mart, other marts and on the interMart that is brought home, unwrapped and gathers dust in the pantry or bathroom for a year or so until it sent on to the local thrift store which sends it on to the local landfill..
I know it might put the Amazons, HSNs and all the other PLASTIC marts like them out of business, but I would rather see them go under rather than wothwhile places like the GOM ecosystem go under.. |
