“Selfishness does not equal compassion ... except compassion for oneself. None for others.

Silly fella. As Rand uses selfishness (the proper way), it is the highest virtue. A healthy individual is much more mindful of others than the phony and pretentious “unselfish” people. A selfish person values their life and their happiness. A selfish person uses no-one, hurts no-one, and impedes no-one. In order to maximize the virtue of happiness all rational people must comprehend how their interactions with others promotes or shrinks their existence and their happiness. To this end it is obvious that rational people seek benevolent, cooperative, and lawful interactions with others.

Selfish people do not sacrifice others. But they would quickly sacrifice their lives to save a cherished value as embodied in their spouse or their child.

You don't have a clue, do you??
