Like I said... what is perceived as "small" and what is perceived to be "large" is a matter for personal preference.

Still, it's good to know that YOU think that "tens of billions per year", continued over an EXTENDED NUMBER OF YEARS (decades, right?), and with borrowed funds to which interest rates compound, and with the addition of the Opportunity Costs of the forgone opportunities (such as paying down debt, or productive investments in national infrastructure, or any other alternative possible uses for the same money, etc.) is considered to be a "small" expenditure by you.

(That little factoid might just come in handy in some future discussion when you express discontent with something even very much smaller, Tim. <g>)
