Re: ["Austerity measures" they introduced were a COMBINATION of REDUCED SPENDING *and* HIGHER TAXES AND FEES. I did not ever say that it was just spending cuts. I clearly stated "austerity measures. You seem to have missed that.]

"I said, at least once, perhaps more, in my posts to you that I was treating "austerity measures" as meaning spending cuts."

In other words then, Tim... what you were doing was making up an ALTERNATE REALITY that does NOT EXIST in Ireland, and then trying to get into an argument with me about your alternate, non-existent 'reality' without pointing out your segue-way first....

No thanks. When starting out, as I did here, with observed statistical and economic facts in the real world, I'd prefer to just STICK WITH those real events from the real world for a while!

(Although talking about hypotheticals would be OK with me so long as you at least explain that that is what you want to move to do....)

Re: "If that was your real objection, you should have objected then."

I DID!

This is the second or even third time I have pointed out to you that you misread my post --- and jumped right over the words that I *actually used* ("austerity measures" consisting of "both major spending cuts and tax hikes") and right into your own mental picture of what you thought had been said... but leaving out the actual salient details.
