IMHO the number of positions and their size/percentage limits is very individual thing. Some people will swear for concentrated portfolios, some for hundreds of positions ;). You have to know what works for you.

Personally, concentration in classical sense never worked for me. Things that I thought to be greatest investments were hohum or bad. On the other hand, sometimes building a large-ish position over time or over market-crash worked out well. So I just do it mah way, which is pretty eclectic. :)
