Madharry,

No doubt that things have gone bad but don't exactly place the blame on your government.

In a world where your chinese/indian worker is willing to work for $0.30/hour and you're average citizen are willing to hit Wal-Mart to reap the advantages of the same(for years now), there isn't much that the government could have done.

We are the veritable movie star who in her youth could do no wrong and made tons of money only to have the bloom fall of the rose.

Now it has become a grab as grab can just like a formerly rich family(e.g. - Astors) and everyone who has the power is trying to secure their piece of the shrinking pie. In that regard, I would agree that the government is doing a lousy job. I think the financial sector saw this and went for that shrinking pie in a big way and was aided passively by the government - hence the real-estate scamarama.

Of course, no one really talks about the scamarama in the medical sector, which IMO, has been just as guilty. But who wants to ridicule the person that can save your life of keep you out of pain/suffering.
