I personally don't believe that push technology will make search engines obsolete, because they serve different purposes. Certainly a matured push technology model will take over some of the tasks that are delegated to search engines today, but there's some things push will never be able to do.

In any case, Yahoo is not a search engine, it is an index. There is a big difference - it's much harder to invent a good search engine than to build an index (back to the low-barriers-to-entry issue).
