"The Semiconductor business has been hurt by the lack of a
standard in the 56-kilobit modem market. Rockwell and 3Com
Corp. make competing, incompatible models that have caused
confusion among consumers and slowed sales. The introduction of
the new modems has spurred price cuts in slower modems."

1. What's a point? This is self-explanatory. Is anybody benefiting from lack of standard? 3COM?
I think not. Nobody think that it does. Do you?

2. >>>If the connection is supposed to be that Ericsson is using K56flex<<<
"The Ericsson K 56DTV is
upgradable and supports the new standard K 56 flex for data
transmission speeds up to 56 kbps over standard telephone lines"

Is/was there a doubt about it?

3. Finally the only point that I was making that it is in interests of both 3COM and ROK to have a standard so that the industry will vigorously move on
