Spending MUST be reduced or the economy would have to grow geometrically if we are to avoid a breakdown in our economy.

I totally agree.

Where we tend to disagree is WHERE the cuts should come.

I would be in the Eisenhower/Ron Paul camp. Cut military spending 50-80%, end the drug war, end prostitution laws.

Further I would go Canadian to cut medical costs so US companies can better compete.

The food you eat, your roads, the water you drink, the pot you piss in, your lighting, your fire protection, your police protectinn, invasion by other countries, the dollars you spend are printed and backed by the government you hate, virtually everything you do every day is enabled by your government.

I agree with you too. In the main I think.

But there ARE problems.

San Diego was bankrupted by a Police/Fire pension swindle. We have terrible Police/Fire. California spends more money on it's prison system than anything else. Basically to put 20 year olds into prison where they learn how to become dangerous criminals and little else.

I was just reading this article:

Canada's 'Prince of Pot' Pleads Guilty in Seattle

tinyurl.com

Think about the cost/benefit ratio:
5 years in prison $200,000 + expensive court judge/lawyer/processing fees + probation fees. Probably cost Washington $500,000 to prosecute this guy:

He doesn't look so dangerous to me. He's probably out mowing the lawn on the weekend like most of us.

Most of my friends have smoked grass. None are crazy from it. Not one. Steve Jobs and Steve Woznick smoked grass. Bill Gates smoked grass.

$500,000 ??? THAT is Insanity.
