Dan,
It is great comparision article. I also book marked it for future
refernce.

A few things even that article ommitted are:
1) Maturity of the technology. Unix has been around since 70s and
has been steadily improved.

2) Originality. Unix started from a great research tradition (bell labs, Berkley etc.). NT started by compying from all other OSs.

3) Future upgrades. If you allow MSFT's way they will keep fixing their short comings and copy new features and make a greatest market
hype to sell as a yet another cannot resist software. Hope NT 5.0
will stay for atleast 4 years before they come up with NT 32 (32 processor version), NT64, NT128, ... for each scalability upgrade.

I agree that free competition is good as long as the playing field is
even and good. Only in theory we will have that. In reality it is
a "WAR" and in war there is no need for saying Govt should be off
the competition. I believe in competition but not in kill-the-enemy
at-any-cost and then shove down crappy products at unbelievable margins concept. Isn't true that once MSFT tried selling Windows 95 screen saver for $25?
