Below are the top five cash rich companies in the Semiconductor Equipment industry as ranked by Cash Equivalents (CE). Analysts use CE as a measure to compare the cash cushion of companies in the same industry.

Applied Materials (NASDAQ:AMAT) ranks first with CE of $2.15B; Kla-Tencor (NASDAQ:KLAC) ranks second with CE of $1.55B; and Lam Research (NASDAQ:LRCX) ranks third with CE of $678.55M.
MEMC Electronic Materials (NYSE:WFR) follows with a CE of $649.6M and Novellus Systems (NASDAQ:NVLS) rounds out the top five with a CE of $552.91M.

SmarTrend is bearish on shares of WFR and our subscribers were alerted to Sell on April 30, 2010 at $13.80. The stock has fallen 19.3% since the alert was issued.
