The only rational pundit I've heard over the past two weeks has been NBC's Anne Thompson who was on the Maddow show the last couple of nites. She explained very clearly how setting up the top kill was a major operation that had to be performed by robots. All the pressure numbers had to be calibrated to make sure it would work. She pointed out that many BP employees were working around the clock to make it happen; that it was a risky venture.
