There's something I don't understand about SestakGate. When you're running for President, like Obama a couple of years ago, he was able to offer Hillary a job as Secretary of State in order to prevent a battle at the convention, since she received more votes in the primaries.

When you're President and running for a second term, like Reagan, you can offer your closest competitor the Vice Presidents job in order to form a team going into the election cycle. In this case, you're a government employee offering a high level position to someone in government service in order to derail their chances of impacting the Presidential race.

However, in the case of Sestak, pundits seem agree it's against the law.

Hence my confusion, why the dual standard?
