There is as much mystery in the world of humanity now as there has ever been in history. We are an energy dependant global society and nearly everyone accepts new tech and greater bandwidth when it is available, a moment later we can't imagine living without it. I can accept that, I'm curious about what the next age will be like when fossil fuel is not the efficient choice, when energy is abundant and bandwidth is not a consideration. There is no going back to a less tecky time, barring major calamity which neither of us would likely survive. The age of petroleum, the age of abundant energy, then what?

I was watching Alf the other night (I own the collection) and Willy was doing something totally awesome (for the seventies), he picked up the crackling voice of some guy in an Asian country on his Ham radio, for a couple of seconds before he lost the frequency.
