It's the same story we have discussed here for 10 years. The largest market cap stocks in this group offer some safety in a downturn due to their lower beta's. Unfortunately even as market conditions improve for many of these best of breed stocks there are so many shares outstanding that they turn higher about as quickly as the proverbial tortoise. I'm still not sure how the tortoise won the race? That said I too own some AMAT. I wish that the buying there was a lot more evident in the stock price. In addition I am more than a little concerned that the biggest volume days and certainly weeks have continued to be on selling despite the commentary by Briefing.com yesterday for the market overall.
