Gary, don't mean to sound rude, but you should really sit down and read the MSwin manaual. Its quite well written and will explain the concepts on what the difference is between a chart, smart chart, template, layout, etc. Then you can come back with more specific questions that will be easier to help you with. Smartcharts can be realized easier using templates and can cause problems with 3rd party applications that read mswin data. Personally they drive me nuts since they autosave all changes to the chart including the ones I don't want. Overall its a preference although all the users I know from SI don't use the smart charts feature. Sean
