"Socialism is an economic system. It has nothing to do with a political system. "
Watch it koan, you are challenging a basic mindset. The real political ecosystem is far too complex for the Right. Many have been working decades to simplify the perceptions to the point to where things are pretty binary. To the Right you have democracy, individual rights, free enterprise and so on. One the Left, you have totalitarianism, socialism, central planning, nanny state, etc. Those in the middle just don't have the sense of character to take a strong stance. By this simplification, they can paint everything as black or white, and things must be extremely polarized or we are Facing The End of Civilization As We Know It.
So, in their minds, if you aren't on their side, you are a wide-eyed socialist bent on instituting the Borg Collective. To be even mildly critical of any stance of the Right is setting things on the slippery slope of the Collective. Which is why they go absolutely ape-shit crazy when they lose control of the presidency or the house, much less both. |
