How can you possibly know this? LSU and Tulane are full of people who surely are doing just that. These people are not idiots.

Exactly. But I bet you would know Galveston, since it is in your back yard. There are people in LA who have studied that region from start to finish.

I would point out that a massive amount of work was done years ago building levees and canals in this area with significant adverse ecological consequences. They have surely learned SOMETHING from those mistakes.

And the alternative of doing nothing is likely to end very badly. Doing something is probably better than doing nothing.
