The right wingers need to educate themselves as to what are political systems and what are economic systems.

And they have to quit saying we are a Republic and not a democracy with no understanding that that is a distinction without a difference and that for all practical purposes there is no difference.

There are a zillion varieties Republics/democracies and the thesis of both is simply control of society by the people and not some authoritarian entity.

As we crawled out of our caves and nomadic life styles and built permanent communites and raised food and built houses starting about 15,000 years ago, it was the ancient Greeks about 350 BC who first opened the door to rule by the people and not tribal leaders e.g. "The Republic by Plato".

Then after Rome completely destroyed all the wonderful libraries and books of the Greeks we slid back into the dark ages for the next couple of thousand years.

The door of political enlightenment was opened a crack with the magna Carta (1200's) and let in a little light, but another 500 years went by before the age of enlightenment started opening the door wider, until it got to us.

But even we, with our very sophisticated constituion, while freeing ourselves, did not free the slaves, or women for that matter.
