Regarding oil drilling or any other technlogy, the equation should be, it seems to me, what can happen and is it acceptable.

E.g. if we could go back in time, would we be willing to trade the oil that has been taken out for the damage we see today in the gulf?

Because and statistician could have told us this would happen eventually. The same is true with nuclear power plants and nuclear weapons.

And when, not if (if we do not get rid of nuclear power) a nuclar power plant blows up some day, the damage will absolutly flabergasting to people it will be so extensive.

Then people will have there come to Jesus moment, but too late.

And when, not if (if we do not get rid of nuclear weapons), we have a nuclear war say between Pakistan and India, few people today can imagine how much devastation it will cause.

While humans can think abstractly, we have to work at it and are much more comfortable living in a concrete world of limited thought.

Most of the the people of India and Pakistan are very proud of their nuclear weapons and see them like a winning soccer team.
