Message 26578489 2010 arctic pack ice melt had hit a new record. This is allowing the arctic ocean to absorb much more heat during the 24 hour daylight summers; which in turn creates a new high pressue area in the winter as the heat is released. This forces the jet stream to change its patteren and brings arctic cold air to the east coast and europe. This could be a permanent situation.
