There is a big difference between bipartisanship and actively working to get the opposition elected. Granted, the Republican idea of bipartisanship translates to "do what we want and we might not accuse you of treason", but that isn't really how it works.

He talks to them all the time. What he often doesn't do is put the interests of the Republican party above his own. Sometimes, but not always.
