No, quite a lot was supplied to verify the claims. Enough to be absolutely definitive? No, but it would be pretty hard for the claims to be considered wrong. I posted a link to the tax tables going back generations, so I did post the income tax information. And we all know that payroll taxes used to be much lower. And I've posted information about the state tax total burden being lower in the past.

With federal income taxes slightly lower to very slightly higher, payroll taxes significantly lower, and state taxes lower, there really isn't any way you get a higher tax burden for the middle class back then.
