I'm adding to shorts very cautiously. I was leaning that way until I saw Hussman's statistic about leadership failures, 52-week high/low reversals, and performance over the next year. Now I'm certain I want to be short; it's just guessing what prices to do it at. I'm legging in slowly; ideally I'd sell a bunch into an opening pop tomorrow, and then sell some more a few weeks from now. The parallels to the top in 2000 are pretty uncanny. I know history doesn't repeat, but it's rhyming nicely so far. If the rhyme continues, we have a few more weeks of chop, and then the double-dip takes over. I hope I'm not being too picky about this, but I try to keep reminding myself that it's OK not to play this round; there will be other entries in the future. You only play if you see that perfect risk/reward setup, and ignore it otherwise.
