I think so. And Byrne, who is in the repub run-off, is the one who was smeared with the 'he's a liberal' commercials, but he won the most votes in the repub primary. good sign.
I might cross over so I can vote in the run-off and vote for him. 'if' a repub is to win, he is not all bad. I want the sales tax on groceries ended, and I want the out-of-state and out-of-country lumbering landowners (and some who own 10's of thousands of acres... just because they can) to pay more property taxes (that especially hurts rural counties)... and I'm not sure he would do that. but possibly. main hope is that Sparks can rev things up
riley, the current repub gov, has mostly been decent. he accepted openly the stimulus money, he has not made a deal about hcr. he's gone nuts the last year re gambling, tho. he's quite connected to Mississippi gambling tho... so medoubts it is to save our souls. and during this time of oil spill, he is just taking care of business, unlike mr. hysterical Jindal.
Byrne is not pandering to the lowest common demnominator, so if he wins, he likely won't then.
there are days I remember why it is I love this land and people. fools sweatin' in the hot sun to rake up oil. fool men walking with their toddlers and groceries and riding bikes about town. and fool men loading my truck up with bags of mulch so I can save my back to tote it around the yard. I'm am feeling rather fondly about the male of the specie today. :) |
