The rules of the game may not allow it. Earlier this year, France beat Ireland in a qualifying match for the World Cup on an illegal play. The French player touched the ball twice before scoring and the ref missed it. The player even admitted he was wrong. People from all over the world wanted the play overturned. The governing bodies said their rules and laws didn't allow them to over rule a call on the field.

I'm assuming it's the same in baseball.
